High School Faith Formation
High School Faith Formation Program
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation
Faith formation for high school students at Holy Family Parish primarily takes place through the Confirmation program, which includes class gatherings, experiential learning through service opportunities, retreats for reflection and community building, and optional participation in the many activities and leadership opportunities through our Youth Ministry program.
The two-year Confirmation program at Holy Family Parish will help candidates gain a deeper understanding of their Catholic faith and give them the tools to apply it to the reality of their lives. By providing knowledge of our Catholic tradition and beliefs, as well as experiences and activities to engage that faith, the Confirmation program will help to grow disciples within our Church.
Confirmation Program Components
Confirmation preparation sessions occur Sundays from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, including the 5:00pm Mass prior to the start of class.
Holy Family Parish High School Faith Formation has an attendance expectation that students miss no more than three scheduled sessions in order to be properly prepared and suitably instructed to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.

Level 1 Curriculum
In the first year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, we will discuss the foundational truths of our Catholic faith focusing on the person of Christ, his Church, and our call to love our God, our neighbors, and ourselves.
Level 2 Curriculum
In the final year of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, we will discuss the importance of our Catholic faith in the context of the modern world by focusing on topics that will allow a deeper understanding of how our faith ought be understood and interpreted in light of modern day issues.
Service is essential to Confirmation preparation, as well as to living an active faith. Holy Family Parish provides a variety of service opportunities meant to help participants explore the meaning of the Corporal Works of Mercy and the Gospel message.
Students preparing for Confirmation are expected to participate in two Holy Family Parish sponsored service events, one individual and one family-based. For more information on these service opportunities, please consult the service calendar.
Candidates for Confirmation (High School Level 2 students) are expected to attend one overnight retreat. Holy Family offers one in December and one in January. If a candidate is unable to attend either of those options, he or she is expected to attend a retreat offered at another local parish.
Sacrament of Confirmation (for High School students)
The sacrament of Confirmation is typically conferred during the Easter season of a students’ sophomore year, given their formation is completed through two years of high school faith formation, service work, and retreat participation.

- Class instruction time will be in small groups, with an adult catechist and peer ministers to lead them.
