In baptism ~ a sacrament most of us received as an infant ~ we are made children of God and are welcomed into the family of faith.  We are now a Christian.  And, when we receive the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation, we are fully initiated into the life of the Catholic Church.

We are initiated. And, we are invited to spend our whole life becoming what we are, that is, coming to understand more and more fully the great treasury of Catholic faith and to living more and more faithfully our identity as followers of Jesus Christ.

Our first teachers in this life of faith are our parents and grandparents, our brothers and sisters.  Grace before meals, prayers at bedtime, stories from the Bible, learning how to share, to listen, to cooperate, how to say “I’m sorry,” rituals at Christmas and Easter: all ways that we grow in our faith at home. As our family gathers with other Catholics to pray at Sunday Mass we hear God’s word, receive abundant life in Eucharist, are encouraged and supported in our life of faith.

And, in all of this, we are being formed as disciples.  We are, by God’s grace and our cooperation with God’s grace, being transformed so that we speak and act, think and live like Jesus Christ.

The ministries of Faith Formation at Holy Family Parish assist parishioners of all ages to continue to grow in their faith, their transformation as disciples of Christ.
